Klara’s Box is a feature film currently in development, written, produced, and directed by ZhuZha Akova. A gripping thriller that explores the fentanyl crisis, grief, and betrayal, the film is based on her award-winning short proof of concept of the same name.

In 2023, ZhuZha wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the short film Klara’s Box, created to showcase the tone, style, and potential of the feature-length version. The short was selected and screened at several film festivals, earning multiple awards and nominations, including Best Short Thriller, Best Experimental, Best Director, and Best Actress.

LOGLINE

After receiving a mysterious box, a desperate but determined woman teams up with a former cop to uncover the truth about her father's death, leading them into a dangerous world of drugs, deception, and a relentless pursuit for justice.

SYNOPSIS

After the sudden death of her estranged father, Klara’s life unravels. Kicked out of grad school, broke, and out of options, she agrees to deliver a mysterious box—no questions asked. But what starts as a simple job quickly pulls her into the dark underbelly of the fentanyl trade. With the help of a disgraced former cop, Klara races to uncover the truth behind the box and her father's secrets. As grief, betrayal, and danger close in, she’s forced to risk everything for a shot at justice.
